About Dr. Lisa Hutto
Founder of Palmetto Allergy and Asthma

Dr. Lisa Hutto and the staff of Palmetto Allergy and Asthma are committed to providing the highest level of care in the most efficient, caring and cost effective manner possible. Since its inception in 1990, the practice has grown to be one of the largest single physician practices in the Southeast. As a result the group is recognized as a regional leader for quality allergy and asthma care.

This quest for excellence is also evident in Dr. Hutto's academic career.

She was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a degree in chemistry.  Eight years later, she graduated from the USC School of Medicine with honors. She has also been selected selected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious academic medical honor society.

Dr. Hutto completed a three-year residency in internal medicine and has been board certified in internal medicine since 1988. To further specialize in pediatric and adult allergy and asthma, she completed a two-year fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia and has been board certified in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology since 1990.

Allergists are required to re-certify by taking a rigorous comprehensive board exam every 10 years. Dr. Hutto was re-certified in 2001 and 2011. She completed the course work for "Maintenance of Certification" in the field of Allergy and Immunology in 2011 -- which is the highest level of recertification/continuing medical education recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Dr. Hutto has been recognized as a "Best Doctor" since 1996. Best Doctors is a Harvard affiliated prestigious peer-reviewed group that includes the top 5% of all US physicians.  Dr. Hutto was selected through an extensive physician survey that identifies doctors in the field of allergy-immunology who have excelled in clinical practice and are known to be leaders in their field.

Because she is a private, physician-owned practice, Dr. Hutto offers her patients the benefits of continuity of care during flexible hours. She feels that remaining accessible during evening and lunch time hours is especially important for those patients dealing with chronic disease, allowing them to receive treatments without missing work or school. For those who are in need of immediate access to care, Dr. Hutto offers same day sick patient appointments for new and existing patients.

Dr. Hutto stays informed of all the changes in the field of allergy and immunology in order to continuously offer our patients the best care possible.

When recent data showed poor indoor air quality can contribute to persistent and hard to control allergy, sinus and asthma symptoms, Dr. Hutto partnered with a leader in indoor air quality testing in order to provide patients with an easy method to measure indoor air quality.

She also offers a full line of personal care and cleaning products that have proven to lessen allergy symptoms for her patients, by preventing exposure to damaging chemicals and fumes.

Because abnormal body mass index and poor nutrition contribute to asthma, nasal allergies and recurrent sinus infections, Dr. Hutto established an on site nutrition program every Monday evening. These classes are designed to help participants improve personal nutrition and achieve weight loss goals safely. In case after case, patients are realizing dramatic results, including a reduction in symptoms, increased energy levels and a healthier outlook on life.

Dr. Hutto and her team look forward to discovering how your life can be improved.

Learn about our treatment process >

Dr. Hutto made us aware in the first visit how sick our son was. She took a personal interest in our son like we have never seen with a doctor. She personally called us at home to see how things were progressing, and has been there for us when we had questions. Her entire staff came to know our son and treated him as though he was their own.
